Aven Taxidermy

Aven Taxidermy focuses on big game, deer, and warm- and cold-water fish, with additional bear work.

You can choose from skin-mount fish, deer shoulder mounts in various pedestal styles, and professional double-felted bear rugs with optional open mouth presentation.

Doug began taxidermy in 1970, trained through the Northwestern School of Taxidermy and the Wisconsin American Institute of Taxidermy, studied with World Champion Joe Meder in 2004, and has operated a Michigan state-licensed shop since the mid-1980s.

Decades of experience, multiple competition awards, and a focus on traditional methods support realistic mounts with careful detail and natural presentation.

Fish mounts are priced by the inch and include driftwood, with extra charges for additional display options, while prices for deer shoulder mounts, bear rugs, and select big game work are discussed directly with the studio.

Doug asks you to call for availability and leave a message if there is no answer, updating his answering machine daily, but he does not publish specific turnaround times.

The studio offers habitat-style display options for deer and fish, including driftwood bases, as well as professionally sewn, padded bear rugs with double felt and sewn-in D-rings for hanging.
