Blaze Taxidermy

Blaze Taxidermy primarily works on big game gameheads and deer, with limited upland birds and ducks, and does not take on pets, fish, lifesize mammals, or large birds like turkey or geese at this time.

They offer shoulder mounts and gamehead mounts in a variety of poses along with bird mounts, and can incorporate custom bases and habitat elements when requested.

Owner and taxidermist Brian Burns serves on the board of the Ohio Taxidermists Association, competes annually in the Ohio Taxidermy Championships, and continues the shop’s long history of taxidermy at its downtown Bellbrook location.

Their work emphasizes high-end craftsmanship, with a focus on realism, natural poses, and custom designs intended to make you feel proud of your mounts.

Deer shoulder mounts start at $1000 plus tax, with extra charges for wall pedestals, hardwood plaques, open mouths, custom alterations, habitat and bases, and shop-rate services such as repairs and restoration; a 50% deposit is due at drop-off and electronic payments may include small service fees.

Because each piece is custom and expertly crafted, they limit workload and ask you to plan for turnaround times of up to about one year for accepted work.

The studio also offers repairs, restoration, custom bases and habitat work, and can assist with CWD-certified handling for out-of-state deer, accepting only legally harvested game with proper license and tag information.
