Owner Amber Maykut has practiced taxidermy for over a decade, with formal training starting in 2012 at Anderson's Whitetail Taxidermy School and further study with multiple taxidermists in the U.S. and UK.

Her background includes museum-level preparation work at the American Museum of Natural History, teaching and speaking for national organizations, and active involvement in professional taxidermy associations, reflecting a high standard of skill and craft.

Pricing is mid-to-high and clearly posted, with a $100 minimum for services and rentals, small classes starting around $200, more advanced classes ranging from about $375 to $1,600, and finished mounts and art pieces spanning from roughly $45 to several thousand dollars depending on size and complexity.

Most made-to-order mounts and art pieces ship within a few weeks, with some larger or more complex works quoting windows such as 4–6 or 6–8 weeks and optional rush upgrades, while in-person services and classes are scheduled by appointment only and often book up in advance.

In addition to new mounts, Brooklyn Taxidermy offers ethical-sourcing–focused custom work, restorations, cleanings, rentals, small-group taxidermy classes, gift cards, and finished mounts, domes, and display hardware for sale, with local pickup and delivery options for larger pieces.
