They work on big game, small game, birds, fish, reptiles, African and exotic game, and horn and skull projects.

You can choose from shoulder mounts, wall and desk pedestals, backpack mounts, European-style skull mounts, antler mounts, life-size and half-life-size poses, and mounts with driftwood or custom bases.

John Walker has practiced taxidermy since 1978, opened his first shop for customers in 1984, and has operated Walkers' Wildlife Art Studio full time at its current location since 1989, giving the studio over 30 years in business there.

He is a competition-tested Master Taxidermist who has served on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi State Taxidermy Association, judged state and regional competitions, and emphasizes realistic, detailed, and artistic mounts treated as if they were his own trophies.

The studio posts detailed price lists by mount type, notes that prices are competitive and may change with supply costs, and requires a 50% deposit before work begins; example prices range from around $100 for basic antler mounts to several thousand dollars for large life-size big game pieces.

They do not state a standard turnaround time but note busy seasons and high demand, ask you to check Facebook or call ahead for current activity and details, and require pickup within 14 business days after notification or a daily storage fee applies.

In addition to traditional mounts, they offer habitat and driftwood bases, antler-only work, skull mounts and pedestals, antler repair, repaint and repair for fish and reptiles, tanning, and they sell John Walker’s book “Gunshots and Gumbo on the Gulf” at the studio.
